Al Kabeer Group is seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Food Safety Officer to join our dynamic team in Khobar. This role is critical to our mission of delivering the highest quality food products to households and businesses across Saudi Arabia and beyond. As a key member of our quality assurance department, you will be the guardian of our production processes, ensuring every item that leaves our facility meets and exceeds the rigorous standards expected by our consumers and regulatory bodies. Your work will be at the heart of our operations, where tradition meets innovation. You will monitor and implement food safety protocols across our state-of-the-art facilities, from raw material inspection to final packaging. The role requires a deep understanding of food microbiology, quality control systems, and regulatory compliance, including Saudi Food and Drug Authority (SFDA) standards. This is a full-time position based in our Khobar facility, ideal for a professional who is passionate about public health and committed to upholding the integrity of the food supply chain in Saudi Arabia.
Key Responsibilities
- Monitor and enforce all food safety policies and procedures, including HACCP (Hazard Analysis and Critical Control Points) plans, across all production and packaging lines.
- Conduct regular inspections and audits of the cold chain logistics to ensure temperature control is maintained throughout storage, transportation, and distribution.
- Manage and maintain the quality control documentation system, including records of testing, inspections, and corrective actions, ensuring full compliance with GOSI and SFDA requirements.
- Oversee the sanitation and hygiene programs for all processing areas, equipment, and personnel, working closely with production teams to implement best practices.
- Investigate food safety incidents, customer complaints, and quality deviations, root cause analysis, and implement effective corrective and preventive measures (CAPA).
- Coordinate with internal teams and external auditors to ensure successful certification and compliance with international standards like ISO 22000 and BRCGS.
- Train and mentor production staff on food safety principles, good manufacturing practices (GMP), and proper handling procedures to foster a culture of quality.
- Utilize the SAP PP (Production Planning) module to track production data, manage quality control workflows, and generate reports for continuous improvement.
Requirements and Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Food Science, Food Technology, Microbiology, Chemistry, or a related field from a recognized university.
- Minimum of 3-5 years of hands-on experience in a food manufacturing environment, with direct exposure to filling/packaging lines and cold chain management.
- Strong working knowledge of food safety management systems, including HACCP, GMP, and prerequisite programs.
- Proficiency in using SAP PP for production planning and quality control data management is highly desirable.
- Valid certification in Food Safety, such as a Certified Food Protection Manager (CFPM) or equivalent, is mandatory.
- Excellent communication skills in both English and Arabic, with the ability to write clear, technical reports and train staff effectively.
- Strong problem-solving skills with a meticulous attention to detail and the ability to work independently under pressure.
- Must be familiar with Saudi food safety regulations, SFDA standards, and have a basic understanding of GOSI requirements.
